LIGHTNING BAND BOOSTERS
Our mission is to support the Franklin High School Band program in Portland, OR to advance the education of youth by promoting and encouraging musical excellence, teamwork, and cooperation through an environment of mutual respect and dignity. As a non-profit organization, we do this through developing and leading the community to provide organizational, logistical, financial and volunteer support for the Lightning Band students and director.
About LBB
We consist of four board members, and members-at-large, all parents of students at Franklin High School. We all volunteer our time to run the non-profit, support the program and ensure every band student has an equal chance to participate in all activities, and help the program continue each year beyond the money raised by parents who contribute directly to the band program via the school. If you are a parent of a student in band this year, you are part of LBB! We also open it up to community members to get involved.
FUN! RAISING
LBB will be conducting several fundraising efforts throughout the year. They help the program pay for extra supplies, instruments, and uniforms to support the band program (play-a-thon). Other efforts are individual, helping band students raise funds for band trips (pie sales), and scholarships for students that can't afford to attend the trips as well as reducing every student's price for attending the traveling events (group fundraising).
